GUEST SPEAKER - VICKIE HOWARD
Vickie is a retired librarian and quilting enthusiast. Vickie started an International Quilt Guild in Monterrey, Mexico. She was instrumental in getting Wal-Mart to donate sewing machines to desolate towns in the Sierra Madre mountains and taught sewing classes so women could make items and sell them in the Art Co-ops of the larger cities. She is involved with Hope for the Ozarks, Marcy’s Project and Butterfly Haven, “Little Dresses for Africa and Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.
Vickie will be teaching an all-day class called Mumbo Jumbo - featured below.

CONNIE CHUNN IS AN AWARD WINNING MINIATURE QUILT ARTIST. SHE WILL BE A SPECIAL SPEAKER AT THE RETREAT. Connie was awarded a grant from MSQG in 2006, to travel to Baltimore to visit the Baltimore Museum of Art Library, where Dr. William Rush Dunton’s files were stored. SHE IS ALSO INVOLVED WITH THE LADIES ART COMPANY. CONNIE WILL BE TEACHING A HALF DAY CLASS OF MINI CHRISTMAS TREES WALLHANGING IN THE AFTERNOON.

Juanita will be teaching the “Student class” this fall. Her class contains a portion of Machine care and general knowledge. Rulers and cutting techniques will also be covered. Supplies needed will be a sewing machine in working order and scissors. Supplies for making projects will be supplied. Projects being made will depend on the attention span and Sewing skill level of the students.
